Baby Shower

Earlier this month Angel and Jess threw us a baby shower. It was so much fun! One of the games that they planned was for Ryan to answer some questions and then we had to guess what his answers were. Totally expecting him to be his funny self, I thought I was just going to laugh at the answers he gave. But to my surprise, some of his answers had me in tears. Below are some of my favorites!

Q. If you could tell the baby anything right now what would you say?

A. I love you more than I can understand. And please don't hurt your mom.

Q. Finish this sentence: "I hope the baby has Kerrie's"

A. I hope the baby has Kerrie's eyes, ears, nose, smile, compassion, sense of humor, athleticism...I think it would probably be easier to say everything...so Everything.

Q. What was your reaction when you found out it was a girl?

A. I was anticipating a boy (I think we both were). But I couldn't be more excited. Besides Kerrie she's already the greatest joy of my life.

False Labor

Well we have officially had our first false labor last night. I was at Bethel for class and started having some painful contractions. It got to the point where I left early and called Ryan to let him know "this might be it". The contractions lasted for 45 minutes (the whole way home) and they were about 40 seconds each, so I was pretty sure we were going to the hospital. My Dr. told me that a shower will make false contractions stop and real ones get more intense, so I took a shower as soon as I got home. To our disappointment, the contractions stopped :( Maybe 1/21/10 will be her birthday?!

Yesterday our good friend Jess Lynch did a maternity photo shoot with Ryan and I. We had so much fun and Jess is so talented. These are just a few of my favorites from the pictures she took. Jess you're amazing!

The comments you get

Since I have started showing more, I have been approached by so many people. It's like once your pregnant everyone wants to tell you their pregnancy story or give you parenting advice. Sometimes it is fun, but sometimes you just want to be left alone. A couple of my favorite comments happened this past month. The first was at a wedding in the rest room. This woman probably in her 60's asked me about when I was due and what I was having, when I told her I was having a girl she said "Well if she is anything like her mom, she will be a princess." The second was coming out of the bank and this man probably in his 70's, said "I bet you get stopped for smuggling basketballs all the time." That one made me laugh!
The most awkward comment I got was at Hom Furniture. The sales men there are already pretty aggressive, so I was expecting to have to say "just looking" a few times. But being pregnant it's like a hole other ballgame. I walked in and right away was approached by this sales man and I let him know I didn't need any help, but was just looking for ideas. He continued to follow me through out the store and tell me how I should be proud of myself for not "letting myself go" with the pregnancy, and how his wife lost all her pregnancy weight right away. I was totally grossed out by him and ended up leaving within 5 minutes.
